The village of l'Aiguillon is located at the point where the Hers bends and begins its course northwards through the cluse it has carved out in the Plantaurel. It stretches from the Pic de Mède to the Col des Balussous, covering an area of 650 hectares.
Its medieval history goes hand in hand with that of Bélesta and Fougax. The partition between L'Aiguillon and Bélesta was pronounced in 1926. Its horn comb factory was a flourishing business.
